Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Requirements

Education: A minimum of a High School diploma up to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (depending on the county you will be working in).

Clearance: A criminal history background check performed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) This involves submitting fingerprints once cleared you will be issued a Substitute teaching certificate.

Citizenship: Legally authorized to work in the US and will not now, nor in the future require sponsorship for an employment visa status (E.I H-1B Visa Status).

Responsibilities

  • Register with the principal or office contact personnel upon arrival.
  • Review with appropriate school personnel regarding schedules & procedures that are to be followed for the teaching assignment.
  • Support and retain the established policies and procedures for the school and classroom.
  • Instruct the class as described in the Substitute Teacher Guide prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Before introducing anything other than what is outlined in the Substitute Teacher Guide, approval must be granted by the appropriate school administrator.
  • Accountable for controlling student behavior in the classroom, during lunch and any recess breaks if applicable.
  • Notify appropriate school personnel with disciplinary or behavioral issues immediately.
  • A Written report will be provided to the appropriate office personnel regarding the days’ activities at the conclusion of the day.
  • All policies and procedures will be adhered to that are applicable to substitute teachers.
